Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of pregabalin in the treatment of occipital neuralgia. Methods 100 patients with occipital neuralgia were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 50)and control group (n = 50). All the patients received blood - activating and stasis - transforming medicine, vitamin B and mecobal-amine. Patients in the treatment group additionally received pregabalin 75 ~ 150 mg/ d,bid. The control group received gabapentin 300 ~ 900 mg/ d,tid. The Visual Analague Scale( VAS)measured by patients, behavioral rating scale (BRS)score measured by doctors, sleep quality scale score and clinical efficacy score were recorded before and 1,2, 4 weeks after treatment. Results The VAS and BRS scores of both groups in each times were lower than before treat-ment(P < 0. 05),and the sleep quality scale scores were increased(P < 0. 05). The VAS and BRS scores of the pre-gabalin group were lower than control group(P < 0. 05),while the sleep quality scale scores were higher(P < 0. 05). The clinical efficacy was 88. 0% in the treatment group, and 74. 0% in the control group(P < 0. 05). There was no significant adverse reaction between the two groups. Conclusion Pregabalin can improve pain symptoms of patients with occipital neuralgia with high safety and less adverse reactions.
