Endodontic Retreatment in Posterior Teeth
Abstract:Objective To explore the causes of endodontic retreatment in posterior teeth and difficulties in clini-cal operation. Methods Etiologies of 127 patients with endodontic retreatment in 138 posterior teeth from Jan. 2004 to Jan. 2010 were analyzed. Results Treatment in 115 diseased teeth was successful with symptoms remission or disap-peared. Successful rate was 83. 3% after at least half a year follow-up. Conclusion The structure of root canal in posterior teeth is complex. One of the important reasons for failure in posterior teeth is missing root canal. Underfilling or overfilling in root canal is another important reason. Strict and accurate root canal preparation can increase success-ful rate of root canal treatment.
