Abstract:There exists a close bidirectional pathological association between diabetes and periodontitis, the vicious cycle mechanism of mutual promotion between the two significantly increases the complexity of clinical diagnosis and treatment. In the management of diabetes-associated periodontitis, localized precision drug delivery is critical for controlling inflammatory progression. However, conventional drug administration methods struggle to achieve sustained and stable drug release at lesion sites. In recent years,nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems have emerged as a promising solution to this clinical challenge due to their controllable drug release properties and targeted delivery advantages. This article systematically reviews the latest research advancements in nanocarrier systems for the treatment of diabetic periodontitis, with a focus on their applications potential in anti-inflammation,tissue regeneration, and antibacterial aspects. The review aims to provide clinicians with references for precise treatment strategies based on nanomedicine.
