Research progress on iron oxide nanoparticles in the prevention and treatment of oral infectious diseases

Abstract:Recently,iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted extensive attention from the biomedical community due to their excellent properties.At present,researchers have conducted numerous studies on iron oxide nanoparticles to improve the treatment and prevention of oral infectious diseases,primarily utilizing their peroxidase-like activity to address caries,pulpitis,apical periodontitis,peri-implantitis and oral mucosal diseases.This paper reviews the research progress and main application limitations of iron oxide nanoparticles in the prevention and treatment of oral infectious diseases,aiming to provide insights for the clinical application and translation.
