Abstract:AIM:This study investigates the sealing effect of bioactive glass(BAG)when added to dentin adhesive, with a focus on its ability to occlude dentin tubules.METHODS:Teeth were Isolated and prepared as dentin trays, then acid-etched with 6%citric acid to simulate dentine hypersensitivity.Various concentrations of BAG(0%,5%,10%,20%,and 30%)were incorporated into the dentin bonding agent. The remineralisation process was carried out over 14 days.Dentin surface remineralisation, tubule sealing and adhesive penetration were evaluated using dentin permeability tests and abrasive challenges.RESULTS:After 14 days, all combination groups(dentine adhesive with BAG)showed remineralization of demineralized dentin, with a significant increase in dentin hardness.Among them, the 20%BAG group demonstrated the most substantial improvement in dentin hardness.Compared to the pure dentin adhesive, the combination groups exhibited superior wear resistance and a higher rate of tubule sealing.Dentin permeability was significantly reduced in all treatment groups compared with the control group. After storage in artificial saliva for 14 days, the combination groups showed a significant reduction in dentin permeability compared tothe pure dentin adhesive group.CONCLUSION:The combination of dentin adhesives and BAG demonstrated excellent remineralizing and occlusion of dentin tubules, offering a promising strategy for the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity.
