Abstract:AIM:To investigate the incidence and distribution of bone dehiscence in patients with mild chronic periodontitis malocclusion, providing a clinical reference for the selection of treatment options for patients with combined periodontal orthodontic treatment.METHODS:90 patients with mild chronic periodontitis and malocclusion were scanned by the same Cone-beam computed tomography. The three-dimensional DICOM data were reconstructed by the software eXamVision to obtain the required sagittal and coronal measurement planes for imaging observation and measurement of all the teeth.SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used to analyze the collected data.RESULTS:The incidence of dehiscence was 15.59%in 2 514 teeth of 90 patients. The highest incidence of bone dehiscence was observed in the mandibular anterior region among different tooth positions. In different skeletal facial types, the incidence of bone dehiscence was the highest in skeletal Class Ⅲ patients, and the difference was statistically significant(P>0.01).The incidence of mandibular canine dehiscence was the highest in skeletal class Ⅲ patients, and the differences were statistically significant(P>0.05).The buccal side had the most bone dehiscence, and the difference was statistically significant(P>0.01).CONCLUSION:Cone-beam CT has a good diagnostic value for the incidence and distribution of bone dehiscence, which can provide certain clinical reference value for the orthodontic treatment of patients with mild chronic periodontitis.
