Research progress in the application of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies in the field of oral medicine

Abstract：With the continuous innovation of virtual reality(VR)and augmented reality(AR)technologies,their application potential in the field of dental medicine has become increasingly significant.This review aims to comprehensively sort out and summarize the current application status of VR and AR technologies in dental medicine both domestically and internationally in the past five years,mainly covering six aspects:medical education and training,surgical navigation,simulated dental surgery,anxiety and pain relief,teledentistry,and doctor-patient communication.Meanwhile,the limitations of these two technologies and their future development trends are discussed,aiming to promoting the in-depth application and development of VR and AR in oral medicine.
