Research progress of extracellular vesicles in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis

Abstract：Periodontitis is a common oral disease that seriously threatens oral health and quality of life.In recent years,as a novel intercellular communication medium,the role of extracellular vesicles in the pathogenesis,diagnosis,and treatment of periodontitis has gradually received widespread attention.This article reviewed the latest research progress of extracellular vesicles in periodontitis,including their biological characteristics,diagnostic value of extracellular vesicle biomarkers related to periodontitis,and the application prospects of extracellular vesicles in the treatment of periodontitis.Through in-depth exploration of these research advances,the aim is to provide new ideas and methods for the early diagnosis and effective treatment of periodontitis.
