Research progress of photodynamic therapy in the treatment of periodontal diseases

Abstract：As an emerging adjunctive therapeutic technique,photodynamic therapy(PDT)has been widely used in various oral health field,including caries,endodontics and periodontal treatment.The mechanism of photody-namic therapy is to induce apoptosis of cells in the designated area by using photosensitizers to regulate the immune re-sponse and reduce inflammation.In the treatment of periodontal diseases,PDT can effectively improve the destructive process of periodontal tissues and promote periodontal tissue regeneration.This article reviews the research progress of PDT in the treatment of periodontitis and provides a new strategy for the treatment of periodontitis
