Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the wettability of 3 sealers on intraradicular dentine treated with different final irrigating solutions. METHODS:81 anterior teeth were decoronated and split longitudinally. The 162 samples were divided into 6 groups (n=27) and treateted by 170 g/L EDTA(A), Qmix(B), 20 mL/L CHX(C), 50 g/L NaClO+ 170 g/L EDTA( D) , 10 g/L NaClO+170 g/L EDTA( E) and NS( F) respectively. Each irrigation group was again divided into 3 groups (n=9) and threated AH-plus, Gutta-Flow and iRoot SP resoectively after irrigation. A Con-tact Angle Meter was used to measure contact angle of the sealer on the samples 1 and 60 min after placement of the sealers onto the root canal surface. RESULTS:After 1 min and 60 min, for contact angles of AH-Plus, EDTA and NS>10 g/L NaClO+ EDTA and 50 g/L NaClO+EDTA>Qmix and CHX (P<0. 05); for Gutta-Flow, EDTA>Qmix、20 mL/L CHX、50 g/L NaClO+ 170 g/L EDTA、10 g/L NaClO+170 g/L EDTA and NS(P<0. 05), for iRoot SP, EDTA>50 g/L NaClO+ EDTA>Qmix and 10 g/L NaClO+170 g/L EDTA>CHX>NS (P<0. 05). The con-tact angle of Gutta-Flow group>AH-Plus group and iRoot SP group (P<0. 05), for AH-Plus and iRoot SP, the contact angles of 1 min group were larger than 60 min group (P<0. 05). CONCLUSION: For final irrigating solu-tions, AH-Plus and iRoot SP favour the wetting of root canal dentine more than Gutta-Flow. Wettability of the 3 seal-ers is the worst on EDTA-irrigated dentine. Qmix and CHX show the best wetting ability of AH-Plus on root canal dentine surfaces. For iRoot SP, NS shows a promising result.
