Abstract:AIM:To investigate the effects of curcumin on the proliferation and the expression of inflamma-tory factors of human periodontal ligament stem cells(hPDLSCs). METHODS:hPDLSCs was cultured in vitro and i-dentified. hPDLSCs were cultured by α-MEM containing 10 gmL/L LPS(model group), pretreated with curcumin and then cultured by α-MEM containing 10 mL/L LPS (intervention group) and by α-MEM (control group) re-spectively. The proliferation ability of hPDLSCs was measured by MTT assay, and the expression of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA was measured by RT-PCR. RESULTS:After 2~7 culture the OD values were as following:con-trol group<intervention group<model group(P<0.05). RT-PCR detection showed that the expression of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α mRNA in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), but lower than that in the model group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Curcumin can inhibit the proliferation of hPDLSCs in-duced by LPS,reduce the expression of inflammatory factors.
