Abstract:Periodontitis is one of the highest incidence of chronic oral infectious diseases. At the present stage, the clinical treatment of periodontitis has not fundamentally blocked the main pathogenic factors of periodontitis, that is,the function of immune regulation of the host. Bone immunity is a new concept put forward in recent years based on the close relationship and interaction between skeleton system and immune system. RANKL system is also an important bridge connecting skeletal system and immune system. Therefore, how to further regulate the reaction state of periodontitis patients'immune system and skeletal system to periodontal pathogens by controlling the members of the RANKL system, and ultimately achieve the goal of radically treating periodontitis has became the focus of our research. This article reviewes the research status and progress of bone immunomodulatory therapy for periodontitis.
