Research progress on the efficacy of nickel-titanium instrumentsin removing filling materials duringr root canal retreatment

Abstract：Nonsurgical retreatment is the primary therapeutic option when the fist root canal therapy failed. The complete removal of the original filling materials in the root canal is not only the key step of the operation but also the important factor determining the success of treatment. Due to the easy operation and high efficiency in removing fill-ing materials,the nickel titanium files have been widely used in clinic.With the improvement of materials and design, and their types are abundant in recent years.This review is to discuss the types,characteristics,efficacy and safety of the nickel titanium files used for endodontic retreatment at present.
