Analysis of the harmfulness of impacted mandibular third molar

Abstract:AIM: To analyse the harmfulness of impacted mandibular third mola. METHODS:110 pa-tients with impacted mandibular third molar were examined by pantomography, the state of the adjacent teeth and the absorption of alveolar bone were observed and analyzed. RESULTS:Distoangular,mesioangular and horizontal impac-tion were found in 5(45.5%),43(39.1%) and 62(56.4%) of the 110 cases. Tooth decay found was in 68 cases (61.8%) in the adjacent teeth,periodontal diseases in 51 cases(46.4%),adjacent tooth alveolar bone absorption in 37 cases(33.6%), crowding and malposition in 69 cases(62.7%), temporomandibular joint disorder in 17 cases (15.5%). CONCLUSION:Mandibular Impacted third molar may may be a factor for some diseases of the adjacent teeth,mandibular anterior teeth,adjacent teeth alveolar bone and temporomandibular joint.
