An assessment of the posed smile in Xinjiang Kashi area Uyger adolescents

Abstract：AIM: To study the characteristics of smiling of the Uygur youths in Xinjiang, Kashi. METHODS: A dynamic smile video of 150 Uygur youths aged 15~20 years in Kashi was collected by digital camera. Computer software was used to analyze the smile characteristics. RESULTS:When the Uygur youths were smiling,the high smile line,median smile line and low smile linein of the males were 21.4%,55.7% and 22.9%,in the females were 26.2%,56.3% and 17.5%,respectively(χ2=44.899,P<0.05), Smile index(%) of the males and females was 6.436 ± 2.634 and 7.392 ± 2.296 respectively(P<0.05), no significant difference of other smile indexes was observed between genders. CONCLUSION:The median smileline is popular in Uygur youths in Xinjiang,Kashi.The smile type distribution is different between genders,but the smile indexes were mostly not.
