Abstract:AIM:To study the effect of geranium strictipes extractive prepared by different solvent on the remi-neralization of early artificial root caries. METHODS:The models of early root caries were prepared from cattle incisors by exposure the"open window"of the specimens to cariogenic bacteria and put the specimens to 37℃ for 96 h in demineraliza-tion solution. The models were randomly divided into 22 groups(positive control, contro lgroup and experimental groups of the solvent geranium strictipes extractive with five concentration gradients in each group;n=6). The morphological changes and the changes of mineral content after mineralization were observed by polarized light microscope and confocal laser scan-ning microscope. RESULTS: Better remineralization effect was observed in the 4.5 mg/mL of N -butyl alcohol and 4.5 mg/mL of ethyl treated specimens by confocal laser scanning microscope. CONCLUSION:N-butyl alcohol or ethyl prepared geranium strictipes extract have better remineralization effect for root caries than alcohol and water.
