Abstract:AIM:To analyze the alveolar bone change before and after treatmen of generalized aggressive periodontitis(GAgP) by cone beam compute fomography.METHODS:10 cases of GAgP with 155 teeth were examined by CBCT at baseline,3 and 6 months after periotontal initial therapy, probing depth (PD),clinical attachment loss(CAL),blooding index(BI) were measured at the same time. The Hounsfield units(Hu) value and the height of crest of alveolar bone were measured by Invivo Dental software.Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0.RESULTS:There was significant improvement for all parameters included BI,PD and CAL after initial therapy (P <0.05).The Hu value of the crest of alveolar bone at baseline,3 and 6 months after treatment was 658 ± 321,708 ± 181 and 694 ± 193 respectively(before treatment vs after treatment,P < 0.05).The height of alveolar bone (% root length) at base line,3 and 6 months after treatment was (61.96±19.93)%,(64.68 ± 19.60)%,and (66.79 ± 20.02) % respectively(base line vs 6 months after treatment,P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Periodontal initial therapy can promote the restoration of alveolar bone defect induced by generalized aggressive periodontitis.
