Application of laser in minimally invasive crown lengthening surgery in dental clinic

Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the clinical effects of laser in minimally invasive crown lengthening surgery.METHODS:30 teeth in 23 patients underwent crown lengthening surgery were divided into 2 groups (n =15),the teeth were treated by laser assisted minimally invasive flapless crown lengthening surgery and traditional method(control group) respectively.The postoperative pain,gingival margin position,gingival index,bleeding index and probing depth of the 2 groups were examined and compared.RESULTS:The postoperative pain in laser group was lighter than that in traditional group(P <0.05).The postion of gingival margin and probing depth was stable in 2 weeks in laser group and in 4 weeks in both groups after opertion(P <0.05).The bleeding index and gingival index of the 2 groups were not significantly different(P > 0.05).CONCLUSION:Laser in minimally invasive crown lengthening surgery can reduce postoperative pain and obtain stable gingival margin.
