Abstract:AIM:To study the in vivo biocompatibility of root canal sealer MTA and AH-Plus.METHODS:28 SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=7).The samples of MTA, AH-Plus and silica gel(the control) were respectively and subcutaneously implanted into 3 sites in each of the rats.7 rats were respectively sacrificed 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks after implantation, the histocompatibility of the materials was examined.RESULTS:Class Ⅱ inflammatory reaction(IR) was observed in the control and MTA group at 1 week examination, class I IR was observed at 2, 4 and 8 week and no statistical significance was found between the 2 group (P>0.05).1, 2 and 4 weeks after operation, AH-Plus group showed Class ⅡIR (vs control group, P<0.05), at week 8, inflammatory response turned to Class I.CONCLUSION:MTA has better biocompatibility in rat subcutaneous connective tissue than AH-Plus.
