Application of digital three dimensional orthognathic surgery design and simulation system in undergraduate student teaching

Abstract：Patients with dento-maxillofacial deformities usually need to be corrected with orthodontic treatment combined with orthognathic treatment.Orthognathic surgery is complicated, flexible, and is difficult to understand, especially for the undergraduates.In this study, we applied digital three dimensional surgical design and simulation system in the teaching and training for undergraduates.This system could make orthognathic surgery visualizable and vivid, make the undergraduates understand the knowledge of orthognathic surgery better through virtual operation training.Comparing with the traditional teaching, digital three dimensional surgical design and simulation system can significantly improve the effectiveness of undergraduate student teaching.
