Micro-osteoperforations accelerat orthodontic tooth movement: a review
ZENG Wei-zhuo
Abstract:In recent years, accelerating orthodontic tooth movement has been a research hotspot.Surgical orthodontics as an effective method has been the most in-depth study. With the concept of modern minimally invasivesurgery, the future direction of orthodontic development will be focused on speeding up orthodontic tooth movement, reducing surgical trauma and complications and improving postoperative stability.Micro-osteoperforations(MOPs) are a kind of minimally invasive treatment technique that enables rapid movement of the teeth. The technique has the advantages of small surgical wounds, shortening orthodontic treatment time, and the effects are remarkable. But due to the lack of adequate clinical research, it can not be used as a general treatment in clinical practice. This article reviews the history of MOPs technology and the mechanism of accelerating tooth movement, as well as the current status of clinical research.
