Abstract：It is a common problem that materials used in root canal treatment may cause tooth discoloration.Hematocrystallin in remaining pulp tissue can cause the intrinsic discoloration of tooth.Also,residues of root canal irrigants,sealers or medicaments in pulp chamber crystallize or precipitate on the root dentine,or penetrate into dentinal tubules,and thus impair the aesthetic outcome of the treated tooth.There are lots of endodontic materials available on the market nowadays,their potential of tooth discoloration are complex.Hence,this review describes the recent research progress on the tooth discoloration induced by root canal treatment materials and medicaments.
