Abstract:AIM:To assess the effect of aqueous extract of Galla chinensis on the adhesion ability of E.faecalis in vitro.METHODS:The effect of Galla chinensis on the adhesion ability of E.faecalis to SigmaScreen collagen I coated plates was evaluated by pretreatment of the coating for 1 h before E.faecalis were seeded on and by the comparison between experimental and control groups. Then the effect of Galla chinensis on the adhesion ability of E.faecalis to dentin was observed by scanning electron microscope using an in vitro root canal infection model.RESULTS:Galla chinensis extracts significantly decreased the adhesion of E.faecalis to collagen I coated plates and bovine dentinal tubules (P<0.05).CONCLUSION::Galla chinensis can inhibite the adherence of E.faecalis to collagen or dentin.
