Abstract：AIM:To investigate the effect of HbA1 c in blood on the hard and soft tissues around the dental implant.METHODS:A case-control study was conducted.84 patients with implant dentures were included.,The patients were divided into 3 groups based on HbA1c level,in group A HbA1c ≤6.0,in group B 6.0 ＜ HbA1c ≤8.0 and in group C 8.0 ＜ HbA1c ＜ 10.0.Modified sulcus bleeding index (msBI) and marginal bone level (MBL) were measured at baseline and 1 year after dental implant insertion.RESULTS:One year after implant insertion,the rate of peri-implantitis in group C was higher than in group A (P ＜ 0.05).The msBI and MBI in group C was higher than that in group A and group B (P ＜0.05).NO significant difference was observed between group B and C.CONCLUSION:High blood glucose is a risk factor for peri-implantitis.
