Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the canal transportation and centralizing ability of NiTi instruments Sani S3 af-ter root canal preparation by Micro-CT.METHODS:40 extracted premolar teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =10).Root canals were respectively prepared using S3 (group A),Mtwo (group B),Protaper (group C)nickel-titanium instruments with crown -down technique and using the stainless steel hand K-files (group D)with stand-ardized technique.A series of preoperative and postoperative images were taken by Micro-CT.Canal transportation and centralizing ability were measured with reference to the distance between the noninstrumented portion of the root canals and the mesial and distal periphery of the root (Double root canals only recorded the buccal one),compared with the images obtained after the preparation. Then the canal transportation and centring ratio value were obtained by the for-mula proposed by Gambill.RESULTS:Among group A,B,and C,there was no significant difference relating to ca-nal transportation and centring ratio value (P >0.05);group D showed bigger canal transportation and smaller centring ratio value than the other 3 groups (P <0.05).CONCLUSION:S3 can maintain the original root canal path and center in the preparation of root canals as well as Mtwo and ProTaper.
