Shaping ability of ProTaper and Reciproc nickel -tianium instruments in curved root canals

Abstract：AIM:To investigate the shaping ability of ProTaper(PT)and Reciproc (RE)instruments. METHODS:20 thirty mandibular first molars were divided 2 groups(n =10),the root canals were prepared by PT and RE respectively.The 3D reconstuction images of morphology of root canals were obtained before and after root ca-nal preparation by Micro -CT.The data were analyzed by t test.RESULTS:The change of canal curvature in group PT was greater thant that in group RE(P <0.05).The changes of the canal volum and surface anea of the apical 1 /3 in group PT were more than those in group RE(P <0.05).PT took longer preparation time.CONCLUSION:Recip-roc is more effective than ProTaper in working efficiency and remaining the original canal (espeaially the apical 1 /3) shape.
