Abstract:AIM: To investigate the expression of Bcl-2 and DPC4 in gingival cancer tissues . METH-ODS:33 paraffin specimens of gingival cancer tissues (15 well-differentiated,10 moderately differentiated and 8 poor-ly differentiated) and 8 cases of normal gingival tissues were examined. The expression of Bcl-2 and DPC4 in the sam-ples was detected by immunohistochemistry method. RESULTS:Positive expression rates of Bcl-2 in normal gingival tissue, well-, moderately-and poorly-differentiated gingival cancer tissues were 12. 50%, 53. 33%, 60. 00% and 100% respectively(P<0. 05);while positive DPC4 expression rates were 87. 25%, 53. 33%, 50. 00% and 12. 50%respectively(P<0. 05). The IOD value of Bcl-2 in normal gingival tissue, well-, moderately-and poorly-differentia-ted gingival cancer tissues were 1.84 ±0.33, 4.55 ±1.23, 9.60 ±0.92 and 13.92 ±1.84 respectively(P<0.05);whereas, the IOD value of DPC4 were 19. 64 ± 0. 72, 13. 47 ± 1. 20, 9. 33 ± 1. 00 and 2. 42 ± 0. 72 respectively( P<0. 05). Bcl-2 and DPC4 expressions in gingival cancer tissues were negatively correlated(r= -0. 929,P<0. 05). CONCLUSION:In gingival cancer tissues, Bcl-2 expression increases, while DPC4 expression decreases. The ex-pression of Bcl-2 and DPC4 is negatively related.
