Abstract:AIM:To evaluate the effects of three perforation repair materials on the morphology and adhe-sion of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts ( HPDLFs) in vitro. METHODS: HPDLFs were respectively cultured on mineral trioxide aggregate ( MTA) , Z350 and amalgam for 24 h. The morphology of the cells was observed under phase contrast microscope and adhesion of the cells to the tested materials were observed by scanning electron micro-scope. RESULTS:The amalgam group had a larger cell-free zone than Z350 and MTA groups. Furthrmore, HPDLFs adhered poorly in amalgam group than in the other two groups. MTA group had the smallest cell-free zone and HPDLFs showed good attachment and spreading on the surface of MTA. CONCLUSION: MTA has the smaller influence on HPDLFs morphology and adhesion than Z350 and amalgam.
