Abstract:AIM:To observe the apex closure effects of Vitapex, calcium hydroxide and MTA in the treat-ment of injuried permanent maxillary incisors with pulp necrosis.METHODS:62 injuried young permanent maxillary incisors with pulp necrosis were treated by apexification with Vitapex (n=35),calcium hydroxide (n=22)and MTA (n=5 )respectively and were followed up for 2 years.RESULTS:In Vitapex group all cases showed apex closure. In calcium hydroxide group,13 cases showed apex closure but the density of calcified tissue was less as compared with that in Vitapex group at 24 m follow-up,apex resorption was found in 9 cases. In MTA group, all 5 cases showed dep-osition of calcified tissre at apex.CONCLUSION:Vitapex and MTA are effective for apexification in the treatment of injuried young permanent teeth with pulp necrosis.
