Cathepsin'C expression in traumatized and infected mouse skin

Abstract：AIM:To investigate the expression of cathepsin C in traumatized and infected mouse skin. METHODS:15 C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into control,trauma and infection groups(n=5).The skin of mouse paw was traumatized with or without infection.Then cathepsin C expression was observed by HE staining and immunohistochemical staining.Image Pro Plus analysis software and SPSS statistic analysis software were used to ana-lyze the results.RESULTS:Cathepsin C expression in mouse skin of trauma and infection groups was significantly up-regulated,and it was mainly expressed in epithelial cells,inflammatory cells and vascular endothelial cells.In control group,no positive expression was found in endothelial cells and positive expression was found only in a small a-mount of connective tissue cells.Semi quantitative analysis showed that the expression of cathepsin C in trauma and in-fection groups was similar (P>0.05),but was significantly higher than that in control group (P<0.05).CONCLU-SION:Cathepsin C may play an important role in local inflammation or immune defenses.
