Differential expression of histamine and histamine receptor 1 in rats with periodontitis

Abstract：AIM:To investigate the expression of histamine and histamine receptor 1 (HR1 )in rat gingival crevicular fluid (GCF)and gingival tissues.METHODS:40 adult SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups(n=20):The periodontitis models were established by ligation technique and the rats in control group received no treat-ment.After 8 weeks,Histamine in GCF was detected by ELISA.HRI mRNA expression in gingival tissues was detec-ted by QT-PCR.RESULTS:The level of histamine in GCF in the periodontitis group (35.47 ±3.908)μg/L was high-er than that in control group (19.77 ±3.832)μg/L(P<0.05).HRI mRNA in gingival tissues of periodontitis group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Upregulation of histamine in GCF and downregu-lation of HRI in gingival tissues may play important roles in pathogenesis of periodontitis.
