Comparasion of the biological characteristics of normal and inflammatory periodontal ligament stem cells from the same donor

Abstract：AIM:To compare the biological characteristics of inflammatory periodontal ligament stem cells (i-hPDLSCs)and healthy periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs)from the same donor.METHODS:i-hP-DLSCs and hPDLSCs were isolated from the same donor.Their colony-forming ability,proliferative capacity,cell sur-face antigens and differentiation ability were evaluated and quantified for statistical analysis.RESULTS:Both stem cells have highly proliferative and differentiative potential.i-hPDLSCs had a significantly higher rate of successive cul-ture and proliferation than hPDLSCs(P<0.05).hPDLSCs had a higher rate of cell osteogenic differentiation than i-hPDLSCs (P<0.05).The adipogenic potential of i-hPDLSCs and hPDLSCs showed no statistical difference.CON-CLUSION:Inflammatory environment influences the biological properties of periodontal ligment stem cells.
