Abstract:Pre-clinical conservative dentistry course is a major component of conservative dentistry. Through simulation training, it aims to train students'hand and visualization skills before entering clinical practice. It is very challenging to design and arrange this course effectively so that the students can master the basic principles and techniques in a relatively short time. This article compares Chinese and German pre-clinical conservative dentistry training practices in regard to class hour arrangement, content of the courses and examination methods. It is expected that such a comparative analysis may help to identify the weak points in our current training programs and to provide valuable references for undertaking curriculum reform in Chinese dental education practices.
