Clinical investigation of the super glass fiber-reinforced composite periodontal splint on the fixation of loosen posterior teeth caused by periodontal disease

Abstract:AIM: To investigate the clinical effect of super glass fiber-reinforced composite periodontal splint ( FRC) on the fixation of loosen posterior teeth caused by periodontal disease.METHODS:50 patients with per-iodontal disease were included.After systematic periodontal treatment, FRC periodontal splint was used to fix the loos-en posterior teeth.The clinical effect was observed one year after the treatment.RESULTS:The success rate of stabili-zing the loosen posterior teeth by FRC was 90%.Masticatory function was restored in 100% cases and 90% patients showed good oral hygiene status.CONCLUSION:FRC is effective in the fixation of loosen posterior teeth, restoring masticatory function and keeping oral hygiene.
