Caries risk assessment of 1 2-year-old children in a primary shool in Kunming city

Abstract：AIM:To assess the caries risk of 12-year-old children in a Primary School of Kunming using Cariogram software.METHODS:Two hundred 12-year-old children were included in this study.The data were col-lected from every child by clinical examination,saliva sampling and a dietary questionnaire.The data was analyzed by Cariogram software.RESULTS:The mean DMFT was 0.33 ±0.79 in these children.According to Cariogram results, the children were divided into 5 caries-risk groups.25%,25.5%,33.5%,12.5% and 3.5% of the children were with the caries risk value of 0%-20%,21%-40%,41%-60%,61%-80% and 81%-100% respectively. 3.5% of the children belonged to high risk group.CONCLUSION:This study shows 3.5% of the investigated chil-dren belong to high risk group and 25% belonged to low risk group.
