Abstract:AIM:To observe the effect of post-and-core crown in the treatment of molar residual crowns with different degree of defects.METHODS:226 residual crowns were devided into 4 types according to the defect degree of residual crowns. The crowns were restored with post-and-core crowns and 201 crowns were followed-up for 3~7 years.RESULTS:190 of the 201 teeth(94.5%)were successfully restored. The treatment success rate of re-sidual crown type Ⅲ(defects of 3 walls)was lower(83.9%)than that of other types.CONCLUSION:The effect of post-and-core crown in the treatment of residual crowns is related to the number of defected walls. The lowest success rate is produced in the treatment of Type Ⅲ residual crown.
