Abstract:AIM:To analyze the difference of Angle's malocclusion types and saggital skeletal patterns be-tween orthodontic patients with and without periodontal diseases.METHODS:337 orthodontic patients without perio-dontal disease and 90 cases with periodontal diseases treated by fixed appliances were selected.Data analysis of Angle′s classifications of malocclusion,saggital skeletal patterns were achieved by chi-squared statistic of SPSS16.0. RESULTS:In the types of malocclusion,periodontally healthy patients mainly had Angle′s Class I malocclusion (47.5%),while the patients with periodontal disease mainly had Angle's Class Ⅱ malocclusion (52.3%) (P<0.05 ). No remarkable correlation between periodontal disease and saggital skeletal pattern was found (P>0.05).CONCLUSION:Periodontally healthy and diseased orthoontic patients have different Angle's malocclu-sion types.
