‘Nanobacteria’and Periodontal diseases

Abstract：‘Nanobacteria’,also known as calcifying nanoparticles (CNPs),with the diameter about 20~500 nm,is one kind of ultra microstructure calcifying particles.Nanobacteria have cytotoxic effect,can produce car-bonate apatite on their cell wall and initiate pathologic calcification.Nanobacteria have been found in kidney stone, atherosclerosis ,saliva ,gingival crevicular fluid ,pulp stone ,dental calculus and dental plaque.This paper summari-zes the research status and the relationship of nanobacteria with periodontal dieases.
