Perspectives on continuing professional education in endodontics

Abstract：Continuing education is an important part in medical education system. This article reports the characteristics of the trainees enrolled in the 2009 endodontic continuing education program,the changes of retraining mode and the perspectives of continuing dental education. Based on the characteristics of the students,we used a new method in our re-training program. We combined common teaching with teaching personality,linked intensive teaching with self-study,integrated multiple lectures with professional learning,combined active learning with passive learning,and guided students both in clinic and scientific research. The effects of training were affected by gender,age,length of practice after graduation,current working hours,career-breaks and the extent to which dental practitioners engage in continuing professional education. It was proved that the new teaching mode and method were favorably received by the students.
