Abstract:AIM: To evaluate the clinical effects of Iononseal resin reinforced glass ionomer on the restoration of dental wedge-shaped defects. METHODS: Five hundred and forty eight teeth in 192 patients with wedgeshaped defects were randomly divided into three groups. Those were restored with GC Fuji Ⅱ glass-ionomer(Group A),Z350 composite resin (Group B) and Iononseal(Group C),respectively. The patients were followed-up for 2 years. The successful rate were determined according to the US public health standard (USPHS). RESULTS: The successful rates of 1 year after treatment were 84.8%,94.6% and 93.5% in group A,group B,and group C respectively.Whereas treatment successful rates 2 years later were 70.5%,88.5% and 85.5% respectively. The successful rates of treatment both 1 year and 2 years later in group C and group B were significantly higher than those in group A (P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that Z350 composite resin and Iononseal are better than GC Fuji Ⅱ glass-ionomer in restoring wedge-shaped defects.
