Influence of different resin cements on the esthetic results of veneer restorations for tetracycline pigmentation tooth

Abstract：AIM: To observe the influence of different resin cements on the esthetic results of veneer restorations for tetracycline stained tooth. METHODS: Ceramic veneers were bonded to artificiallly stained background with different resin cements,including A1-and A3-shade of the RelyX veneer light-curing system,light-and opaque-shade of Panavia F double-curing system,and opaque-,A2-and A3-shade of the RelyX Unicem double-curing system. The L~*a~*b~* values of different restorations were recorded and compared. RESULTS: L~*a~*b~* values were significantly different (P<0.005) among different groups. Dunnett-t results showed that there was no statistical significance between the L~*a~* b~* values of control group and opaque-shade of Panavia F group. The total color difference △E between control group and opaque-shade of Panavia F group was< 1.5,whereas △E was > 1.5 among the others groups. CONCLUSION: The esthetic outcome of veneer restorations for tetracycline pigmentation tooth can be adjusted by trying resin cements with different colors. Opaque-shade of Panavia F double-curing cement shows nicer masking capability as compared with other resins.
