Bonded biteplate in combination with straight wire appliance for the correction of anterior crossbite in permanent dentition

Abstract：AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of bonded biteplate in combination with straight wire appli-ance on the correction of anterior crossbite in permanent dentition. METHODS: 22 cases of anterior crossbite in per-manent dentition were chosen for this clinical study. The cases were treated with bonded biteplate in combination with straight wire appliance. Cephalometries were performed before and after treatment. The changes of soft and hard tissues were compared by paired t-test. RESULTS : The duration to cure the crossbite is from 2 months to 6 months. The av-erage time of treatment was 3.8 months. The profile of soft and hard tissues was improved remarkably. CONCLU-SION : Use of bonded biteplate in combination with straight wire appliance is an effective method in treatment of anteri-or erossbite in permanent dentition.
