Expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase during rat dental pulp injury and repair

Abstract：AIM.To observethe expression of iNOS in rat dental pulp after injury and evaluate its role in the restoration of the injured pulp.METHODS:Rat model of pulp injury wag established by pulp expousure.Pulp tissues were collected immediately,at 1d,3d,7d,14d,21d and 28d after injury.and were studied with HE and immunohistochemical staining.Pathological changes of the pulps and the location of iNOS were observed.Software for image analysis was used to test the optical density of each specimen.Differences among the control group and each experimental group were analyzed by Dunnett ANOVA with SPSS 11.5.RESULTS:In the normal pulp,staining of iNOS was negative.The staining observed immediately after pulp injury Wag low-level expression,after 3 days the staining was strong positive,after 7 days the staining became less positive gradually and at the 21th day it approached to normal.CONCLUSION:The iNOS appears immediately after the pulp injury,and increases to strong expression,then sraaually reduces to nomal during the pulp injury and repair.These findings suggest that iNOS might be related with the repair after pulp injury.
