Abstract:AIM: To observe the influence of Chinese nutgall solution as irrigants on the coronal microleakage. METHODS: Forty fresh extracted teeth with single root were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 10) after removed crown. Which are 25 mg/mL Chinese nutgall solution, 200 mg/mL Chinese nutgall solution, 170 g/L EDTA + 52. 5 g/L NaOCl, and physiological saline (control group). Root canals were prepared with step - back flaring to #40 file. 5 mL irrigants were performed to flush the root canal with each file changing. After root -canal filling, the teeth were incubated at 37℃ for 10 days followed by 10 days immersion in human saliva and additional 30 days in India ink. The dye penetration of the teeth was measured and analyzed. RESULTS: Least leakage occurred in group of EDTA + NaOCl (1.97mm) in comparison to other groups (P < 0. 05). The mean coronal microleakage of teeth from 200 mg/mL and 25 mg/mL Chinese nutgall solution was 3. 10mm and 3.52mm respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0. 05). The distilled water group had the most microleakage (8. 68mm), Which was significantly difference in comparison to other groups (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Chinese nutgall irrigation can significantly decrease the coronal microleakage.
