The combining effects of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 and basic fibroblast growth factor on the proliferation of human periodontal ligament cells
Abstract：AIM: To evaluate the effects of a combination of recombinanthuman bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) on the proliferation of periodontal ligament cells(PDLCs). METHODS: Using cell culture technique, enzyme kinetics methods. RESULTS: Both rhBMP-2 and bFGF could promote the proliferation of PDLCs. Significantly greater proliferation was found in combined group comparing with individual groups(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: rhBMP-2 and bFGF could promote the proliferation of PDLCs and had synergistic action.
