Abstract:AIM:Observation of the possible correlation between the peptidase activity and clinical parameters to evaluate the diagnostic value for the activity of periodontitis. METHODS:To measure 72 sites in 60 adult periodontitis patients peptidase activity specifically produced by Porphyromonas gingivalis(Pg), Bacteroides forsythus (Bf)and Treponema denticola (Td) in suhgingival plaque using Periocheck within 15min. Peptidase activity was determined both spectrophotometrically and by using color standard. RESULTS: The peptidase activity was significantly correlated with clinical parameters such as PD, CAL and GI. Peptidase activity was much higher in adult periodontitis patients than that in healthy controls. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the Periocheck test may provide a rapid, simple, sensitive monitoring tool for the activity of periodontitis.
