The progress in predictors of prognosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome
HE Xujian
Abstract:Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a polyradiculoneuropathy characterized by a rapidly progressive bilateral paresis of the limbs. The intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) and plasma exchanges ( PE) have long been proven effective and become the primary treatment recommended by the current guidelines at home and abroad. However, because the patho-genesis of the disease is not clear and the spectrum of disease is increasing, the recovery and clinical outcomes of patients trea-ted with standardized treatment are quite different. Therefore, it is important to identify and interfere with patients with poor prognosis as early as possible. This article reviews the research on the prognostic evaluation of GBS at home and abroad in re-cent years, and aims to introduce GBS related prognostic factors in order to guide the clinical work and to look forward to the possible future research direction.
