Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation of the ratio between apolipoprotein B (ApoB) and apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) (ApoB/ApoA1) to diabetic foot (DF) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods Total of 376 T2DM patients admitted in department of endocrinology,Shiyan Taihe Hospital from Jan 2014 to Dec 2016 were included in this retrospective study.Subsequently, all the enrolled patients were divided into group non-DF (n =261) and group DF (n =115).The rate of smoking and drinking, duration of diabetes,BMI,blood pressure (BP),and serum levels of blood lipid and glucose among two groups were compared, and among different Wagner grade (Ⅰ-Ⅴ).Logistic regression analysis was adopted to investigate the risk factors for DF.Results The smoking rate, level of serum fasting blood sugar (FBS),hemoglobin A 1C(HbA1c),total cholesterol (TC) and ApoB,and ApoB/ApoA1 ratio were significantly higher(t/x2 value was 4.862,-2.002,-3.104,-4.623,-4.770,-9.853,-8.040 respectively,P =0.028,P =0.046,P =0.002,P < 0.001,P <0.001,P <0.001,P < 0.001),and the duration of diabetes was much longer (t =-9.904,P < 0.001) in group DF by comparing to that in group non-DF,and these observations except for TC were dramatically increased in the higher Wagner grade (F/x2 value was 3.485,8.900,4.867,11.121,25.816,21.119,respectively,P=0.010,P=0.023,P<0.001,P < 0.001,P < 0.001,P < 0.001).Logistic regression results showed that duration of diabetes, smoking rate,HbA1c,ApoB and ApoB/ApoAl ratio were the risk factors for DF.Conclusion Diabetes patients are susceptible to DF after exposure to uncontrolled blood glucose and lipid for long time.ApoB/ApoA1 was related to the development of DF,and might be the potential biomarker for DF.
