The value of thyroid injection with nano carbon in thyroid cancer surgery

Abstract：Objective To investigate the value of thyroid injection with nano carbon in thyroid carcinoma surgery. Methods The clinical data of patients with thyroid carcinoma treated by vascular thyroid surgery in the First Affiliated Hospi-tal of Xinjiang Medical University from August 2014 to February 2017 were analyzed retrospectively. According to the mode of operation,the patients were divided into the conventional surgery group (40 cases) and the nano carbon injection group (35 cases). The conventional surgery group performed routine lymph node dissection during thyroid cancer surgery, and after 10 min of nano carbon suspension injection,the nano carbon injection group performed the black staining lymph node dissection. The general conditions during the perioperative period,the incidence of surgical complications,the number of lymph node dis-section,the rate of lymph node metastasis,and the levels of parathyroid hormone and serum calcium before and after operation in two groups were observed and compared. Results The operation time of the nano carbon injection group was shorter than that of the conventional operation group(t=6.815,P<0.001);there was no difference in intraoperative blood loss,postoper-ative drainage volume and postoperative hospital stay between the two groups (t=0.203, t=0.245, t=0.975,P=0.420, P=0.403,P=0.166);the number of lymph node dissection in nano carbon injection group was more than that in conven-tional operation group (t= -14.260,P<0.001); there was no difference in lymph node metastasis rate between the two groups (χ2=0.223,P=0.637);there were no differences in parathyroid hormone and serum calcium levels between the two groups (t=0.066,t= -0.244,P=0.474,P=0.404);after operation,the parathyroid hormone and serum calcium levels in the nano carbon injection group were higher than those in the conventional operation group(t= -9.568,t= -2.384,P=0.012,P=0.039);the incidence of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury and laryngeal nerve injury was not different between the two groups (χ2=0.887, P=0.346); the incidence of acral numbness in the nano carbon injection group was lower than that in the conventional operation group (χ2=4.688,P=0.030). Conclusion The application of nano carbon thyroid in-jection in thyroid cancer surgery has higher application value,it can shorten the operation time,lymph node dissection is more thorough,and can play a protective role on parathyroid gland.
