Abstract:Objective To investigate the association between coronary artery disease and triglyceride glucose index(TyG index),a simple insulin resistance marker,in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods One hundred and ninety diabetic patients with suspected coronary artery disease who were in the hospital from January 2015 to February 2017 were enrolled in the study. The features of coronary lesions, the clinical data and the results of laboratory examinations within 24h of hospitalization were recorded.Coronary artery scores in terms of Gensini system were calculated in every patient.Patients were divided into 0 score group,1-20 score group,21-40 score group and above 40 score group according to Gensini score. Results There were significant differences in TyG index between the four groups(F=8.475,P<0.01).In addition,TyG index was positively correlated to Gensini score(r=0.237,P=0.002).The AUC for identifying severe coronary artery disease was 0.619(95%CI 0.533 to 0.705,P=0.01).The results of multivariate regression analysis indicated that TyG index was associated with fasting glucose,triglyceride,cholesterol,HDL-C and LDL-C.Conclusion There are significant associations between TyG index and coronary artery disease in diabetic patients,TyG index may be a predictor of severe coronary artery stenosis in patients with diabetes.
